Flu Facts
05/19/2008According to a new online survey by Harris Interactive, 20 percent of Americans got the flu this past winter. Young people were slightly more likely than older people to get sick (24 percent of people aged 18 to 24 said they got the flu, compared to 15 percent of those aged 65 and older). Younger people were much less likely than older people to say they got a flu shot. When asked about precautions for next year, 38 percent of adults said they would get a flu shot, similar to the number that reported getting one this year. Forty-five percent said they would not get the shot, and 16 percent weren’t sure. Source: Harris Interactive online survey, May 2008.
