In July, just two in ten Americans said "the surge" in U.S. troops in Iraq was making the situation there better.  When Gallup/USA Today repeated the question in late February, 40 percent gave that response. Most Americans still favor setting at timetable for withdrawal, but only around 20 percent support an immediate pullout.
