Obama and Gay Marriage
06/27/2012Four new polls show that majorities say President Obama’s support for same-sex marriage won’t make any difference to their vote. In Gallup’s poll, 13 percent of respondents said his stand would make them more likely to vote for him, 26 percent less likely, and 60 percent answered that it wouldn’t make any difference. The CBS results were 16 percent more, 25 percent less, and 58 percent no difference. In Pew’s question, 19 percent said they would think more favorably about President Obama, 25 percent less favorably, and 52 percent said it would make no difference. When NBC News and the Wall Street Journal asked about both presidential candidates’ positions on the issue, 62 percent said their positions would make no difference in how they might vote.
