Private Insurance Companies
01/26/2010In the January Pew Research Center poll, 45 percent of respondents said they would trust private insurance companies more to decide what kinds of procedures should be covered by health insurance, and 31 percent said they would trust the government more. Sixteen percent volunteered that they would trust neither. Republicans (65 percent) and Independents (45 percent) said they would trust private insurers more. A plurality of Democrats (47 percent) said they would trust the government more. In a Harris poll from last summer, 90 percent blamed health insurance companies for the problems with the current healthcare system. The Harris poll didn’t ask about the federal government.
